Deacon James

Listen up to the story of a humble soul

A Virgo man keeping everything under control

Deacon James in the building, keeping everyone smiling

With the humor and the joy that he's always compiling

He's a father of eight, yeah, the legacy's deep

Five boys, three girls, ain't no time for sleep

But he handles the hustle with a grace so rare

Always showing up, always proving he cares

Lift the hands, raise the voice, let the spirit move

St. Joseph Baptist Church in a righteous groove

Praise and worship with the Bishop, yeah, Bishop Johnson

Serving God's children, that's the path he walks on

Deacon James, shining bright when the choir sings

Uplifting every soul with the peace he brings

Now let's take it to the block, to the driveway scene

Rolling up in the black Chrysler 300 machine

Yeah, he named her Annabelle, keeping the polish clean

Looking like the flyest Deacon that you ever seen

He smiled and said, "I'm gonna make this trunk vibrate"

Bass bumping through the city while he's riding great

Got Justin Jr. and Tiffany in the family tree

Two grandkids looking up to his legacy

Lift the hands, raise the voice, let the spirit move

St. Joseph Baptist Church in a righteous groove

Praise and worship with the Bishop, yeah, Bishop Johnson

Serving God's children, that's the path he walks on

Deacon James, shining bright when the choir sings

Uplifting every soul with the peace he brings

From the pews to the pavement, he's a genuine man

Guiding God's children, yeah, that's part of the plan

He can crack a good joke, he can lead a good prayer

When you need a true friend, Deacon James is right there

Yeah, the trunk might shake, but his faith stands still

Doing work for the Lord with a steady will

So lift the hands, raise the voice, let the spirit move

St. Joseph Baptist Church in a righteous groove

Praise and worship with the Bishop, yeah, Bishop Johnson

Serving God's children, that's the path he walks on

Deacon James, shining bright when the choir sings

Uplifting every soul with the peace he brings
