Eric

We started as words on a glowing screen

A leap of faith for a distant dream

You bought a ticket to the Michigan cold

To help me pack up the life I’d known

I left you waiting at the bus stop door

An hour late, but you didn't keep score

You just smiled with that patient grace

And I saw the kindness shining in your face

Oh Eric, you're the answer to a prayer I prayed

A God-fearing man in the promises He made

You are patient, you are loving, you are smart and true

I see the Lord's reflection when I look at you

I love you, babe, you're so special to me

The greatest blessing that I'll ever see

We loaded the boxes and we took the wheel

Driving back to Kansas, making it real

You kept me laughing through the highway lines

Turning long roads into the greatest of times

With every mile marker passing by

I thanked the Maker of the open sky

For a partner with a heart so bright

Who leads with humor and a steady light

Oh Eric, you're the answer to a prayer I prayed

A God-fearing man in the promises He made

You are patient, you are loving, you are smart and true

I see the Lord's reflection when I look at you

I love you, babe, you're so special to me

The greatest blessing that I'll ever see

From a digital hello to a life we share

I see His providence everywhere

Through the wonderful memories we've made so far

I fall more in love with the man you are

You build me up when the world gets heavy

Your faith is deep and your hands are steady

Oh Eric, you're the answer to a prayer I prayed

A God-fearing man in the promises He made

You are patient, you are loving, you are smart and true

I see the Lord's reflection when I look at you

I love you, babe, you're so special to me

Forever thanking Heaven for our history

Yeah, I love you, babe, you're so special to me
