Carl

It was a warm July when our story begun

A week later, our very first date was done

By the very next time that you sat by my side

You told me that you're gonna make me your bride

We were head over heels, just a match made in heaven

Married December the third, nineteen seventy-seven

Forty-nine years through the ups and the downs

Through the heartache and love, look at what we have found

Five beautiful children from a love so divine

And I'm still so thankful to know you are mine

With God as our rock, we are standing together

Carl, I love you today more than ever

You've always been patient, you've always been wise

With a gracious heart and a laugh in your eyes

A God-fearing man, so devoted and kind

With your family first in your heart and your mind

When the road got heavy and the shadows got long

Your loving spirit just kept us all strong

Forty-nine years through the ups and the downs

Through the heartache and love, look at what we have found

Five beautiful children from a love so divine

And I'm still so thankful to know you are mine

With God as our rock, we are standing together

Carl, I love you today more than ever

With God's love and help, anything is possible

And looking at our life, I know that it's true

His grace brought us through every trial we faced

And He poured all His blessings on me and on you

May He grant us more years, may they just keep on rolling

'Cause you are the only one I want to be holding

Forty-nine years through the ups and the downs

Through the heartache and love, look at what we have found

Five beautiful children from a love so divine

And I'm still so thankful to know you are mine

Still going strong, we are walking together

Carl, I love you today more than ever
