John

Just a glowing screen in the middle of the night

A Facebook message in the pale blue light

I didn't know a simple click and a typed-out word

Would be the start of the sweetest thing I ever heard

From strangers on an app to my favorite man

I'm so glad my heart is resting in your hands

Oh, John, you always know how to make me smile

You make the heavy things feel light for a while

When the road gets rough and the shadows fall

I know you're strong enough to face it all

No matter what life is putting you through

You got this, and baby, I got you

You've got a punchline when the skies are gray

You always know how to laugh the dark away

Even when you're tired and the day is long

You keep me going, you keep me strong

I see the giant that you are inside

I'm so proud to be standing by my boyfriend's side

Oh, John, you always know how to make me smile

You make the heavy things feel light for a while

When the road gets rough and the shadows fall

I know you're strong enough to face it all

No matter what life is putting you through

You got this, and baby, I got you

So when the doubt starts creeping in your mind

Just leave those worries in the dust behind

Take a deep breath, look at how far you've come

I'll be right here until the work is done

'Cause John, you always know how to make me smile

You make the heavy things feel light for a while

When the road gets rough and the shadows fall

I know you're strong enough to face it all

No matter what the world decides to do

You got this, and baby, I got you

Yeah, you got this, and John, I got you
