Donte

We were only thirteen when we first started hanging out

I knew right then I wanted you, I didn't have a doubt

But we had some growing up to do, so we went our separate ways

Living out our own lives, counting down the days

Through the best of times and the worst we've seen

Donte, you're the safest place I've ever been

Through thick and thin, we stuck by each other

We built a life leaning on one another

I can't wait to marry you, but until that day

I'm yours forever and for always

The calendar turned to twenty-twenty-one

We found our way back underneath the same sun

We started dating and the spark caught fire

You were everything that I could desire

That very same year, our whole world changed

When we held little Ava and whispered her name

Through the best of times and the worst we've seen

Donte, you're the safest place I've ever been

Through thick and thin, we stuck by each other

We built a life leaning on one another

I can't wait to marry you, but until that day

I'm yours forever and for always

You're the best father that I've ever known

Loving Grayson, Grant, and Veda like they are your own

You stepped right in with an open heart

That's the tender way you play your part

We’ve weathered the storms and we’ve stood our ground

Look at this beautiful family we've found

I picture the aisle and a dress in white

Knowing my future with you is so bright

Through the best of times and the worst we've seen

Donte, you're the safest place I've ever been

Through thick and thin, we stuck by each other

We built a life leaning on one another

I can't wait to marry you, but until that day

I'm yours forever and for always
