David

It was just a quiet evening at a friend's house across town

I didn't know my whole world was about to turn around

You cracked a joke from the corner and caught me by surprise

I saw a warm and loving spirit right there in your eyes

We started up a conversation, talking through the night

And I knew right then and there that this was feeling right

Oh David, you've got a heart of gold

The sweetest story that I'll ever be told

You keep me laughing when the days get long

You're the steady rhythm in my country song

I love you more than simple words can say

I'll cherish you, my husband, every single day

I still think about that evening we decided we should cook

We didn't need a fancy setup or a recipe book

Just two glasses on the counter and dinner on the stove

Stirring up a pot of laughter, falling deep in love

You held me in the kitchen light, the world just faded out

You showed me what a true and honest love is all about

Oh David, you've got a heart of gold

The sweetest story that I'll ever be told

You keep me laughing when the days get long

You're the steady rhythm in my country song

I love you more than simple words can say

I'll cherish you, my husband, every single day

Through the quiet early mornings and the busy afternoons

I'm still falling for you underneath the same old moon

You're the gentle hand that holds me, the smile that pulls me through

There is nothing in this life I wouldn't do for you

Oh David, you've got a heart of gold

The sweetest story that I'll ever be told

You keep me laughing when the days get long

You're the steady rhythm in my country song

I love you more than simple words can say

I'll cherish you, my husband, every single day

Yeah, I'll cherish you, David, every single day
