Dee Dee

You made your way to Albany, Georgia

To bring the whole family near

Mom’s side and Dad’s side together

Just to have you standing here

You always had that funny spirit

A tender smile that lit the room

I thank the Lord for every moment

Even though it passed too soon

Oh, Dee Dee, with a heart of gold

A gentle brother, a beautiful soul

I can still feel those strong, warm hugs

And the lingering scent of your sweet cologne

Lord, wrap him up in Your perfect love

Until we gather around Your throne

I close my eyes and I see you there

Holding my forehead, pulling me close

Talking to me with that earnest voice

The brother that I needed most

We took those rides with the windows down

South Jefferies Street, just cruising around

Every laugh and every mile

I'll keep them safe inside my smile

Oh, Dee Dee, with a heart of gold

A gentle brother, a beautiful soul

I can still feel those strong, warm hugs

And the lingering scent of your sweet cologne

Lord, wrap him up in Your perfect love

Until we gather around Your throne

God gave you a spirit so bright and so true

A love for your family in all that you do

Now you rest in the peace of the Savior's embrace

But the joy that you gave us, no time can erase

We lift up our hands and we bless His name

For the gift of a brother whose memory remains

Oh, Dee Dee, with a heart of gold

A gentle brother, a beautiful soul

I can still feel those strong, warm hugs

And the lingering scent of your sweet cologne

Lord, wrap him up in Your perfect love

Until we gather around Your throne
