Don

You were wearing that Air Force blue

Half a world away in Desert Storm

We packed up a box to send to you

Just hoping it would keep you safe and warm

Then you called me up to say your thanks

And in June of '91 you came around

Honest and dependable, stepping off the plane

I knew right then exactly what I found

Don, you're the love of my life

So caring and smart, my steady guide

We are so blessed to have each other

In this whole world, there is no other

I will love you forever, my heart is true

And I'll always meet you in the middle, too

July of '93, you asked for my hand

I didn't have to think, the answer was clear

September twenty-sixth, we made our stand

With all of our friends and our family near

At Old Mulkey State Park, underneath the trees

In Tompkinsville, Kentucky, just you and me

We spoke our vows and we made our start

And you took a permanent hold on my heart

Don, you're the love of my life

So caring and smart, my steady guide

We are so blessed to have each other

In this whole world, there is no other

I will love you forever, my heart is true

And I'll always meet you in the middle, too

Now we're resting easy, the working days are done

Enjoying our retirement out in the setting sun

In White House, Tennessee, we've built a quiet life

And after all these years, I'm proud to be your wife

'Cause Don, you're the love of my life

So caring and smart, my steady guide

We are so blessed to have each other

In this whole world, there is no other

I will love you forever, my heart is true

And I'll always meet you in the middle, too

Yeah, I will always meet you in the middle, too
