Trumaine

You were my firstborn, the start of it all

The one who made me step up to the call

You gave me my other heartbeat, right from the start

You showed me real love and you opened my heart

I had to grow up, I had to be strong

But looking at you, I knew where I belonged

Trumaine, you’re patient, you’re kind, and you’re true

I see the hard work in all that you do

We might be apart, but you’re right in my heart

I love you so much, even when words fall short

You live by the scripture, the truth we adore

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

I remember the water, when you were just nine

Getting baptized and stepping right into the light

And when Grandma Lil passed, we were broken in tears

But you held us together and calmed all our fears

Now your military service is a proud chapter closed

You're spending time with your family, and heaven just knows

Trumaine, you’re patient, you’re kind, and you’re true

I see the hard work in all that you do

We might be apart, but you’re right in my heart

I love you so much, even when words fall short

You live by the scripture, the truth we adore

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

A man of your faith, a man of your word

Living the lessons that you've always heard

You love on your family, you honor His name

I'm so proud of the man you became, Trumaine

Even miles away, you're a part of my soul

The beautiful boy who made this mother whole

Trumaine, you’re patient, you’re kind, and you’re true

I see the hard work in all that you do

We might be apart, but you’re right in my heart

I love you so much, even when words fall short

You live by the scripture, the truth we adore

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

Yeah, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord
