Alexis

I still see the little girl you used to be

Looking up at the world, looking up at me

Now I look at the woman standing here today

Beautiful and strong in every single way

You forged your own path with your own two hands

Independent, exactly as God planned

Oh, Alexis, I am so proud of you

An upstanding Sailor, tried and true

A loving mother, courageous and bright

A woman of God, walking in His light

And when the shadows fall and times seem dark

The Lord is right there, holding your heart

I've watched you grow through the passing years

A faithful Christian, overcoming your fears

You wear your uniform with honor and pride

Facing the ocean with heaven by your side

You pour your soul into the family you raise

I thank the Lord for you in all of my prayers

Oh, Alexis, I am so proud of you

An upstanding Sailor, tried and true

A loving mother, courageous and bright

A woman of God, walking in His light

And when the shadows fall and times seem dark

The Lord is right there, holding your heart

Even the strongest ships meet a heavy gale

But with Him at the helm, you will never fail

When the waters rise and you can't see the shore

Just remember what His promises are for

He will never leave you, you are not alone

His love is the compass that guides you home

Oh, Alexis, I am so proud of you

An upstanding Sailor, tried and true

A loving mother, courageous and bright

A woman of God, walking in His light

And when the shadows fall and times seem dark

The Lord is right there, holding your heart

Yes, even in the dark, He is holding your heart
