Dougie

We met in March of twenty-fifteen

A love so clear, like nothing I had ever seen

By May we moved in, planting the seeds

Trusting the Lord to provide what we need

You showed me what a man of God is meant to be

A steady foundation for our family

Oh, Dougie, you've got a heart of gold

Patient and kind as our story unfolds

An amazing father, the husband I prayed for

With every passing season, I just love you more

I love you with every beat in my chest

Right up until my very last breath

In August twenty-sixteen, our first little girl arrived

We said our vows in twenty-eighteen, standing side by side

Twenty-nineteen brought our second daughter to hold

And twenty-twenty-one, a third little blessing to unfold

Three beautiful girls looking up at your face

Watching you lead us with heaven’s own grace

Oh, Dougie, you've got a heart of gold

Patient and kind as our story unfolds

An amazing father, the husband I prayed for

With every passing season, I just love you more

I love you with every beat in my chest

Right up until my very last breath

Eleven years together, walking in His light

Through the busy days and the quiet of the night

We bought our home in twenty-twenty-six, a place to stand

Built on the rock by the Father's guiding hand

Every prayer we whispered, every dream we drew

God answered them all when He gave me you

Oh, Dougie, you've got a heart of gold

Patient and kind as our story unfolds

An amazing father, the husband I prayed for

With every passing season, I just love you more

I love you with every beat in my chest

Right up until my very last breath
