MIKE

October thirteen, nineteen eighty, heaven smiled on me

God gave me a beautiful baby boy, a blessing I could see

I remember you and Crystal playing Mario for hours

Running on the football field, showing all your power

You always had the best manners, my helper through and through

Thank you, Jesus, for the gift I have in you

Train up a child in the way he should go

And when he is old, his faith will still show

Happy birthday, Mike, my heart is full of praise

God has kept His hand on you through all your days

Mama loves you more than words could ever say

Thank you, Jesus, for my boy today

You were such a great helper, working round the home

With a gentle, kind spirit wherever you would roam

Uncle Bennie used to come and get you for the day

"I love the way he works," is what he'd always say

When life got hard, the heavy shadows tried to fall

But prayer and the love of Jesus made it alright through it all

Train up a child in the way he should go

And when he is old, his faith will still show

Happy birthday, Mike, my heart is full of praise

God has kept His hand on you through all your days

Mama loves you more than words could ever say

Thank you, Jesus, for my boy today

God can do everything but fail, I know that is the truth

I see His mighty hand in the man He raised from youth

Now you drive those big trucks, rolling state to state

Seeing all of God's creations, knowing He is great

Every mile you travel, heaven hears my prayer

Jesus walks beside you, keeping you right there

Train up a child in the way he should go

And when he is old, his faith will still show

Happy birthday, Mike, my heart is full of praise

God has kept His hand on you through all your days

Mama loves you as you travel state to state

Thank you, Jesus, for my baby boy today
