James

I catch a glimpse of you across the room

Wearing a smile when you're struggling, too

A man of few words with a caring heart

Building us up when you're in the hard parts

With every remembrance, I thank God for you

For the quiet integrity in all that you do

Iron sharpens iron, and you sharpen me

Living out faith for your family to see

You point to the Heavens, you point to His face

James, you’re a brother by God’s grace

Through every season, whatever the weight

I’m thanking the Father He brought you my way

We sit and we talk, I take in your advice

But you're humble enough to step out of the light

You say it’s not you, it’s the Lord who provides

As you pour into the youth and the kids by your side

I see the father you're striving to be

Don't grow weary in well-doing, keep planting the seed

Iron sharpens iron, and you sharpen me

Living out faith for your family to see

You point to the Heavens, you point to His face

James, you’re a brother by God’s grace

Through every season, whatever the weight

I’m thanking the Father He brought you my way

I know being the rock can be a heavy load

When you're walking a faithful and quiet road

But God sees your labor, He sees your faith

On this birthday I pray for His strength and His grace

May the love that you give and the kindness you start

Flow right back to the quietest prayers of your heart

Iron sharpens iron, and you sharpen me

Living out faith for your family to see

You point to the Heavens, you point to His face

James, you’re a brother by God’s grace

May the Lord bless you and keep you secure

Make His face shine upon you, gracious and pure

May He lift up His countenance, give you His peace

A brother by God's grace, a friend to me
