Terry

Started out with a shot in the dark

A blind date waiting to find a spark

You brought that Montana calm and a smile

And I knew right then I'd be staying a while

You had this quiet, patient grace

And a steady look upon your face

Oh Terry, twenty-two years rolling by

Together underneath a wide open sky

You’re the absolute best father we know

Watching the kids and the family grow

You’ve got a joke when the days are sunny

You're funny, babe... but not too funny

Now we've got two kids growing up strong

You're right there to guide them all along

Cooper the dog barking out in the yard

With a man like you, loving isn't hard

You never lose your cool, you take your time

You're the steady rhythm, the reason and rhyme

Oh Terry, twenty-two years rolling by

Together underneath a wide open sky

You’re the absolute best father we know

Watching the kids and the family grow

You’ve got a joke when the days are sunny

You're funny, babe... but not too funny

From the mountain state to the home we made

The love you give us is never gonna fade

When the world gets heavy, you hold the weight

I still thank my stars for that one blind date

Oh Terry, twenty-two years rolling by

Together underneath a wide open sky

You’re the absolute best father we know

Watching the kids and the family grow

You’ve got a joke when the days are sunny

You're funny, babe... but not too funny

Yeah, twenty-two years and right on the money

Patient and kind... and not too funny!
