Steve

We were just hanging out at a friend's place

I didn't know I was looking at my future face to face

You had a smile that felt like coming home

A quiet kind of strength I'd never known

From that living room down to this very day

I thank the Lord for sending you my way

Oh, Steve, you're my shelter from the cold

The funniest, most loving heart I'll ever hold

You stand beside me, fiercely protective and true

And every single day I see Romans 8:28 in you

Through the sunshine and the trials we've understood

That God is working all things for our good

I think about the simple memories we share

Just sitting side by side without a care

Splitting foot-long chili dogs on a lazy afternoon

Laughing together till the sun gives way to the moon

You're my babycakes, the one who knows me best

In your steady arms, my spirit finds its rest

Oh, Steve, you're my shelter from the cold

The funniest, most loving heart I'll ever hold

You stand beside me, fiercely protective and true

And every single day I see Romans 8:28 in you

Through the sunshine and the trials we've understood

That God is working all things for our good

When the world gets heavy, you lighten up the load

With a gentle joke to guide me down the road

You guard this marriage with a faithful, steady hand

Beside me through the fire is where you always stand

Oh, Steve, you're my shelter from the cold

The funniest, most loving heart I'll ever hold

You stand beside me, fiercely protective and true

And every single day I see Romans 8:28 in you

Through the sunshine and the trials we've understood

That God is working all things for our good

Yes, my babycakes, He's working all things for our good
