John

I remember the days when you were so small

Holding you close, keeping watch through it all

I'd rock you to sleep as the daylight was fading

Singing "You Are My Sunshine" while the stars were just waiting

Oh, Johnny, my love, you make the whole world shine

With a heart that is thoughtful, a spirit so kind

You're always so willing to help when you can

I'm so proud of the boy who became a good man

No matter how fast all the seasons fly by

You'll always be the sunshine in my sky

Now we sit on the porch swing, two cups in our hands

Sharing our coffee and talking of plans

We have heart-to-heart talks as the hours slip away

I cherish the quiet at the start of the day

Oh, Johnny, my love, you make the whole world shine

With a heart that is thoughtful, a spirit so kind

You're always so willing to help when you can

I'm so proud of the boy who became a good man

No matter how fast all the seasons fly by

You'll always be the sunshine in my sky

You work hard for your life, but you still stop to care

For anyone needing a friend to be there

A loving soul with a gentle grace

You bring so much warmth to every place

Oh, Johnny, my love, you make the whole world shine

With a heart that is thoughtful, a spirit so kind

You're always so willing to help when you can

I'm so proud of the boy who became a good man

No matter how fast all the seasons fly by

You'll always be the sunshine in my sky
