Clayton

Your brother begged me just to meet you

Said I'd fall in love, and he was right

We joked around and traded banter

Talking on into the night

I called you my dork, you called me your punk

I thought you were just another guy

Till we stayed up talking on the phone

And fell asleep to the midnight sky

Clayton, you will never walk this battle alone

I'll always be right here beside you

When the nights get cold and the road gets hard

My love is gonna guide you

You stepped up for us when we needed you most

Now I'm stepping up to hold the line

Our chapter isn't over yet

Your hand belongs in mine

I wasn't looking for a stepdad

But you walked in and changed the frame

You gave our kids just what they needed

And loved them like they had your name

You're so outgoing and professional

A caring heart that's brave and strong

The perfect man that I believe in

The place where I belong

Clayton, you will never walk this battle alone

I'll always be right here beside you

When the nights get cold and the road gets hard

My love is gonna guide you

You stepped up for us when we needed you most

Now I'm stepping up to hold the line

Our chapter isn't over yet

Your hand belongs in mine

I know the weight is heavy on your shoulders

I know you're fighting through the fear

But the man I knew is still right in there

And I'm not going anywhere, I'm here

I'm with you till the very ending

I'll be your shelter and your stone

Clayton, you will never walk this battle alone

I'll always be right here beside you

When the nights get cold and the road gets hard

My love is gonna guide you

You stepped up for us when we needed you most

Now I'm stepping up to hold the line

Our chapter isn't over yet

Your hand belongs in mine

No, our story isn't over yet

You will never walk this battle alone
