It was a Thursday in November, the middle of the day

The feast was soon forgotten when you took my breath away

We traded in the turkey for some sandwiches instead

But holding you, my Hannah, I was spiritually fed

The greatest gift of gratitude that heaven could provide

I looked at you and felt a holy pride

I lift my hands and thank the Lord for you

For your loving, patient spirit, so beautiful and true

I praise the Father for the grace He wove together

Hannah, I love you beyond measure

I’ve watched you walk in kindness as the seasons hurried by

With a gentle sort of wisdom and compassion in your eye

Now I see you with your children, the mother you've become

Raising them in Jesus' love until the day is done

It fills my soul with wonder just to watch you in your role

A wonderful mother with a servant's soul

I lift my hands and thank the Lord for you

Thank You for the miracle that I witness daily

Getting to be "Nanny" to your beautiful babies

It's a generational promise, a circle of His grace

Shining right back at me from every little face

So I offer up this prayer as I look at where we stand

Seeing how the Lord has held you in His mighty hand

From a lunchtime on Thanksgiving to the family that we share

I see the heart of Jesus in the love that we declare

I'm so proud to call you daughter, my joy will never end
