Deresa

Deresa, take a breath and look around

You keep your feet so steady on the ground

You’re the one they lean on, strong and true

But you need a solid rock to hold you, too

When you have to find the patience for the day

There is a truth to help you on your way

Remember the Shepherd, remember the Word

The sweetest promise that you’ve ever heard

He leads you by the quiet waters still

He restores your soul and He always will

Through the shadows of the valley, have no dread

Psalm twenty-three is the path you tread

You keep your sense of humor through the rain

Because a little laughter helps to ease the strain

You’ve gathered up the wisdom of a quiet heart

To know exactly when and where to start

But when the weight of being reliable runs deep

You have a sanctuary you can keep

Remember the Shepherd, remember the Word

The sweetest promise that you’ve ever heard

He leads you by the quiet waters still

He restores your soul and He always will

Through the shadows of the valley, have no dread

Psalm twenty-three is the path you tread

There is a table prepared when the world is cold

An overflowing cup of grace to hold

Goodness and mercy will follow you home

Deresa, you never have to walk alone

So remember the Shepherd, remember the Word

The sweetest promise that you’ve ever heard

He leads you by the quiet waters still

He restores your soul and He always will

Through the shadows of the valley, have no dread

Psalm twenty-three is the path you tread

Yes, Psalm twenty-three is the light ahead
