Denzel

I was only sixteen when I saw your face

Just a kid myself, trying to find my place

But the moment I held you, the fear slipped away

I knew we'd find the sunshine at the end of the day

Denzel, you're the reason I learned how to stand

I was holding a baby, now I look at a man

You’ve got a kind heart that's steady and true

Always lifting me up, the way that you do

They call you a mama's boy, and I smile with pride

'Cause I've got my best blessing right by my side

This is my prayer for you, wherever you roam

You've got your mama's blessing, and you've always got a home

We grew up together, through the laughter and tears

I watched you get stronger across all the years

You're so quick to support me, so gentle and kind

The sweetest companion a mother could find

When the heavy winds blow and the skies start to gray

You just wrap me in love and you chase it away

You’ve got a kind heart that's steady and true

Always lifting me up, the way that you do

They call you a mama's boy, and I smile with pride

'Cause I've got my best blessing right by my side

This is my prayer for you, wherever you roam

You've got your mama's blessing, and you've always got a home

May the world give you back all the love that you show

May your faith keep you grounded wherever you go

I gave you your life, but Denzel, you gave me mine

Now the doors are wide open, it's your turn to shine

You’ve got a kind heart that's steady and true

Always lifting me up, the way that you do

They call you a mama's boy, and I smile with pride

'Cause I've got my best blessing right by my side

This is my prayer for you, wherever you roam

You've got your mama's blessing, and you've always got a home
