Carol Green

From walking side by side down those high school halls

To late nights laughing at the local bars

Sunday mornings singing in a wooden pew

Carol Green, I’ve done it all right next to you

You always have a joke to chase the dark away

The most caring soul I know up to this day

I’ve been there when you laugh and when you cry

Watched you wipe the teardrops from your eyes

We made it through the storms and heavy weather

To see you hold a miracle named Heather

You've got so much love to give, it's true

And nobody deserves her more than you

I still remember that heavy afternoon

When the doctor's words took the air right out the room

They said a mother was something you could never be

And I held your hand while you were hurting quietly

But you never let it turn your spirit cold

You just kept on being kind and brave and bold

I’ve been there when you laugh and when you cry

Watched you wipe the teardrops from your eyes

We made it through the storms and heavy weather

To see you hold a miracle named Heather

You've got so much love to give, it's true

And nobody deserves her more than you

Sometimes the darkest nights bring on the dawn

And against the odds, you just kept holding on

All that sorrow washed away in the end

When I saw that baby girl with my best friend

I’ve been there when you laugh and when you cry

Watched you wipe those happy tears right from your eyes

We made it through the storms and heavy weather

Now you're holding a miracle named Heather

You've got so much love to give, it's true

Carol, nobody deserves her more than you
