Alexander

I still think about the De Anza days

Your clever jokes and your funny ways

A house full of animals running around

The sweetest chaos that we ever found

You always had a heart that felt it all

Standing by ready to catch what might fall

Alexander, I've watched you run

Chasing the shadows out of the sun

A natural athlete with a soul so kind

Now you're stepping out with an unobstructed mind

Yeah, the past is the past and the horizon is bright

Walking into your new beginning's light

I can still see the dirt on your shoes

Learning to win and learning to lose

All those hours spent on the sports field grass

Watching the golden afternoons pass

You wore your emotions right on your sleeve

And showed me the power of what you believe

Alexander, I've watched you run

Chasing the shadows out of the sun

A natural athlete with a soul so kind

Now you're stepping out with an unobstructed mind

Yeah, the past is the past and the horizon is bright

Walking into your new beginning's light

The hardest seasons only made you strong

You're finding the rhythm to a brand new song

The road is open, the heavy fog is gone

You've got the armor to keep carrying on

Oh, Alexander, I've watched you run

Chasing the shadows out of the sun

A natural athlete with a soul so kind

Stepping into tomorrow with an unobstructed mind

Yeah, the past is the past and the horizon is bright

Walking into your new beginning's light

With a strengthened heart and an open mind
