Dominique

July the tenth, two thousand, the tears were in my eyes

The doctors shook their heads, expecting our goodbyes

They told me that my baby wouldn't make it through the night

But I held on to my faith and I held you tight

I said, look at God, He had a different plan for you

He breathed the life into your soul and pulled us through

Oh, Dominique, you are the beat inside my chest

Every time I look at you, I know that I am blessed

You're funny and you're loving, with such a caring heart

I'm so proud to be your mother, I loved you from the start

No matter where you go or what you're going through

Remember, mama always loves you

Now I watch you walking tall, bringing laughter to the room

Your smile is like the sun, chasing away the gloom

You've got a gentle spirit that shines so bright and free

A living, breathing miracle right in front of me

From that fragile little baby to the man you are today

I thank the Lord above every time I pray

Oh, Dominique, you are the beat inside my chest

Every time I look at you, I know that I am blessed

You're funny and you're loving, with such a caring heart

I'm so proud to be your mother, I loved you from the start

No matter where you go or what you're going through

Remember, mama always loves you

They said it couldn't happen, but look at you now

You conquered all the odds, you made it through somehow

I love you, my boy, more than words could ever say

My greatest gift from heaven came on that summer day

Oh, Dominique, you are the beat inside my chest

Every time I look at you, I know that I am blessed

You're funny and you're loving, with such a caring heart

I'm so proud to be your mother, I loved you from the start

No matter where you go or what you're going through

Remember, mama always loves you

Yeah, my boy, remember, mama always loves you
