melissa

Slide into a corner booth, just the two of us

Sharing plates and quiet time, away from all the fuss

Melissa, you’ve got a gentle way of calming down my mind

The sweetest soul, the prettiest face that anyone could find

Oh, you're my superhero, though you don't wear a cape

You're my protective shelter when I need a safe escape

A little bit stubborn, but lovable and true

Mom, I count my lucky stars that I was raised by you

Sitting at the table, picking out a shade of red

Painting each other’s nails while the evening slips ahead

You hold my hand so steady, with a confident grace

No matter what the world brings, I’ve got a resting place

Oh, you're my superhero, though you don't wear a cape

You're my protective shelter when I need a safe escape

A little bit stubborn, but lovable and true

Mom, I count my lucky stars that I was raised by you

You stand your ground for what is right, you never back away

That stubborn streak is just the love you show me every day

I look at you and see the strength I hope to have inside

My mother and my champion, my compass and my pride

Oh, you're my superhero, though you don't wear a cape

You're my protective shelter when I need a safe escape

A little bit stubborn, but lovable and true

I love you so much, Mom, for everything you do

I'll always count my lucky stars that I was raised by you
