Brenda

I couldn't wait to get to Martinsville for joy to ring

We had a kind of childhood that makes my spirit sing

Out there in the sunshine, laughing at the little things

Chocolate milk and honey buns, flying on the swings

We enjoyed a childhood that doesn't exist today

A beautiful foundation that will never fade away

Happy birthday, Brenda Hairston, it's your special day

Lifetime friends, yeah, we've come a long, long way

We are sisters for life, through the laughter and the tears

Sundays down at Grandma’s, a house so full of cheer

Happy birthday, Brenda, and a Happy New Year

Aunt Loretta was our Queen, a love so deep and true

And Uncle Coy the King, my favorite uncle through and through

Sandra and Lt Coy, Chester, Daniel, and Greg

We shared a solid bond that could never be unsaid

Cousins by blood, always looking out for one another

But they were so much more, like our sister and our brothers

Happy birthday, Brenda Hairston, it's your special day

Lifetime friends, yeah, we've come a long, long way

We are sisters for life, through the laughter and the tears

Sundays down at Grandma’s, a house so full of cheer

Happy birthday, Brenda, and a Happy New Year

We gotta bring back family morals to stay

Hold on to the magic of back in the day

Brenda, we love you, through all kinds of weather

Side by side, we are standing together

Happy birthday, Brenda Hairston, it's your special day

Lifetime friends, yeah, we've come a long, long way

We are sisters for life, through the laughter and the tears

Sundays down at Grandma’s, a house so full of cheer

Happy birthday, Brenda, and a Happy New Year
