Phillip

Phillip, I watch how you walk through this world

With an adventurous spirit, a sail left unfurled

You've got a kind heart that is steady and true

And a quiet understanding in all that you do

I look at the man that you've grown up to be

And I'm proud of the son standing right before me

Son, you are stronger than you think you are

You've got a resilient soul that can carry you far

Whatever you set your mind to, you're gonna achieve

If you just look inside and start to believe

When the road gets heavy and the valley gets deep

You've got a mountain of strength that is yours to keep

I still think about that California drive

Heading down to San Diego, feeling so alive

Going to see your uncle with the windows rolled down

Miles of open highway, far away from town

I saw the fire in your eyes out there in the sun

And I knew that your story had only begun

Son, you are stronger than you think you are

You've got a resilient soul that can carry you far

Whatever you set your mind to, you're gonna achieve

If you just look inside and start to believe

When the road gets heavy and the valley gets deep

You've got a mountain of strength that is yours to keep

You've got a way of listening when the times get tough

When the winds of this life start blowing too rough

So whenever you doubt what your own hands can hold

Just remember your spirit is iron and gold

Son, you are stronger than you think you are

You've got a resilient soul that can carry you far

Whatever you set your mind to, you're gonna achieve

If you just look inside and start to believe

Yeah, Phillip, you're strong, let your spirit run free

You're exactly the man that you're destined to be
