Bridget

Back in '81, down in Port Arthur, Texas

Jefferson Liquor Store, that's where the Lord blessed us

September came around, we traded numbers then

Three months on the telephone, just waiting to begin

Hearing your voice, so patient and sweet

I was just counting the days till we'd finally meet

Bridget, my Queen, my beautiful wife

You put your trust and your heart in my life

Through the good and the bad, you're the strength that I see

A God-fearing woman who anchors our family

I thank the Lord for the warmth of your smile

With you by my side, I'd walk every mile

Christmas Day evening, the rain falling down

But no heavy storm could keep me out of town

I drove through the weather right up to your door

Sat in your parents' house, wanting you more

We sat on that sofa on opposite ends

But I knew right then we'd be more than just friends

Bridget, my Queen, my beautiful wife

You put your trust and your heart in my life

Through the good and the bad, you're the strength that I see

A God-fearing woman who anchors our family

I thank the Lord for the warmth of your smile

With you by my side, I'd walk every mile

A virtuous mother, a grandmother too

A sweet sister, a friend, so steadfast and true

I saw a beautiful soul behind that gorgeous smile

A lady of honor, of class and of style

With God at the head of the vows that we made

I promise to guide and protect you, unafraid

As our journey evolved from that night in the rain

You loved me so deeply through joy and through pain

You put your life in my hands, a trust I protect

With God as our guide, and absolute respect

I knew I would marry you, make you my own

The greatest blessing that I've ever known

Bridget, my Queen, my beautiful wife

You put your trust and your heart in my life

Through the good and the bad, you're the strength that I see

A God-fearing woman who anchors our family

I thank the Lord for the warmth of your smile

With you by my side, I'd walk every mile

Now and forever, my heart is so true

Bridget, I will always love you
