mama

Ten children gathered 'round your table

A dedicated wife, so strong and able

You poured your spirit out into the neighborhood

Always finding ways to do somebody good

A loving giver with a heart so wide

Walking with grace, standing by our side

We look at your life and we see heaven's best

That is the reason we call you Bless

Oh Mama, I will always love you deep

The lessons that you taught me, I will keep

I'm grateful for the way that I was raised

I’ll pass it to my family all my days

I'm trying my best to always make you proud

To sing your tender praises out loud

You gave us everything, you gave us your best

My beautiful Mama, the one we call Bless

I remember May Day, back in elementary school

I thought I'd be left out, feeling sorrowful

We didn't have the money for the clothes they wore

But you wouldn't let me cry behind our door

You took the simple fabric in your hands

And worked a kind of magic no one understands

Stitching every fold with a mother's care

Making sure your child had something beautiful to wear

Oh Mama, I will always love you deep

The lessons that you taught me, I will keep

I'm grateful for the way that I was raised

I’ll pass it to my family all my days

I'm trying my best to always make you proud

To sing your tender praises out loud

You gave us everything, you gave us your best

My beautiful Mama, the one we call Bless

Those handmade pleats were better than the rest

The other children saw how I was dressed

They wanted one like mine, they saw the design

But they didn't have a mother quite like mine

I spun around so happy and so proud

Wrapped up in your love before the crowd

Oh Mama, I will always love you deep

The lessons that you taught me, I will keep

I'm grateful for the way that I was raised

I’ll pass it to my family all my days

I'm trying my best to always make you proud

To sing your tender praises out loud

You gave us everything, you gave us your best

My beautiful Mama, the one we call Bless
