Laurie

We met down at the horse barn, saddled up to ride

You were up on Stormy, trotting by my side

We came across a fallen tree, I told you hold on tight

I knew that horse would book it, so I warned you of the flight

His front hooves walked it easy, but the back ones kicked the sky

You slid down that horse's neck and looked him in the eye

I told you to get back up, you brushed away the dirt

I knew right then and there, I'd love you till it hurt

Oh Laurie, you're the gentle heart that holds this life together

Through fifteen kids and twenty-eight grandkids, in any kind of weather

You're loving and you're kind, the sweetest soul I've found

Even when you lose your way and turn the car around

I'll ride every trail with you, beneath the sky so blue

My beautiful wife Laurie, I am so in love with you

We rode a little further, to a creek across the wood

My horse waded easy, just the way a pony should

But Stormy jumped all crazy, got you soaking to the bone

Then I said it's time to turn around and head on back for home

You asked if we were going back the same way that we came

I said yes, and sure enough, old Stormy played his game

He thrashed about the water, left you soaking wet once more

But I loved you in that saddle like I never did before

Oh Laurie, you're the gentle heart that holds this life together

Through fifteen kids and twenty-eight grandkids, in any kind of weather

You're loving and you're kind, the sweetest soul I've found

Even when you lose your way and turn the car around

I'll ride every trail with you, beneath the sky so blue

My beautiful wife Laurie, I am so in love with you

You make the wrong turns driving, you get lost in our backyard

But loving a woman like you has never been too hard

Now we're taking ocean cruises, sailing overseas

Down to Mexico and the Caribbean breeze

We traded muddy water for the ocean's silver foam

But as long as I am with you, I will always be at home

Oh Laurie, you're the gentle heart that holds this life together

Through fifteen kids and twenty-eight grandkids, in any kind of weather

You're loving and you're kind, the sweetest soul I've found

Even when you lose your way and turn the car around

I'll ride every trail with you, beneath the sky so blue

My beautiful wife Laurie, I am so in love with you
