Michael

We met on the job, in the everyday grind

But a man like you is a rare thing to find

You made me laugh by the breakroom door

And suddenly work wasn't work anymore

Michael, you stood like a shield in the fray

Keeping me safe from the weight of the day

I saw the fire in the way that you spoke

A quiet protector behind every joke

You're persistent, determined, and set in your ways

A strong-minded man through the shifting of days

Yeah, you're stubborn as hell, but I know it's because

You fight for this life and the ones that you love

So keep digging in, keep holding the line

I love you, Michael, you stubborn heart of mine

I still look back on the night we were wed

The vows had been spoken, the tears had been shed

We sat at the table, just husband and wife

Ready to toast to the rest of our life

I looked at my plate and I started to laugh

There was a slug in the salad, just crossing our path

It wasn't exactly the perfect design

But I knew right then that we'd always be fine

You're persistent, determined, and set in your ways

A strong-minded man through the shifting of days

Yeah, you're stubborn as hell, but I know it's because

You fight for this life and the ones that you love

So keep digging in, keep holding the line

I love you, Michael, you stubborn heart of mine

When the wind blows hard and the road gets rough

Your unyielding soul is made of tough stuff

You don't ever quit, you don't ever yield

You're my safest place, my rock and my shield

You're persistent, determined, and set in your ways

A strong-minded man through the shifting of days

Yeah, you're stubborn as hell, but I know it's because

You fight for this life and the ones that you love

So keep digging in, keep holding the line

I love you, Michael, you stubborn heart of mine
