Jerry

It wasn't always easy, just the two of us

But you built a home on a foundation of trust

You took on the world, raised me on your own

Made sure I never felt like I was alone

Jerry, you carried the weight with a smile

And walked by my side every step of the mile

You showed me what a hero is really made of

You'll always be a daughter's first love

When the road got heavy and the going got rough

You gave me your unconditional love

Yeah, you've always been there, no matter what

My rock, my dad, my hero, my heart

I still think about those trips up to the mountain peaks

Camping out in the woods by the winding creeks

Tearing up the dirt roads, mudding in the rain

Laughing through the drunken times, shaking off the pain

Just making our memories, wild and free

The best parts of life were you right there with me

'Cause you showed me what a hero is really made of

You'll always be a daughter's first love

When the road got heavy and the going got rough

You gave me your unconditional love

Yeah, you've always been there, no matter what

My rock, my dad, my hero, my heart

Thank you for the sacrifices you never named

For stepping up to the plate and keeping me safe

I look at my life and the woman I see

And I know it's because of the man who raised me

Jerry, you showed me what a hero is made of

You'll always be a daughter's first love

When the road got heavy and the going got rough

You gave me your unconditional love

Yeah, you've always been there, no matter what

Thank you for being my hero, my heart
