Marie

Lord knows I walked for forty-nine years

Through all of the seasons, the joys, and the tears

I didn't know what I was missing back then

Till I heard your sweet voice on the other end

Just a call on the phone, but my spirit just knew

That heaven was opening, bringing me you

Oh, Marie, I thank the Lord for your life

A woman of faith who shines so bright

You're the big sister I waited to see

God wrote this story for you and for me

With a loving heart and a laugh so true

I love you, Marie, I thank God for you

When we finally stood there, face to face

I just broke down crying, surrounded by grace

You held out your arms and the waiting was done

A bond of a lifetime had finally begun

You bring so much laughter, you bring so much care

An answer to decades of unspoken prayer

Oh, Marie, I thank the Lord for your life

A woman of faith who shines so bright

You're the big sister I waited to see

God wrote this story for you and for me

With a loving heart and a laugh so true

I love you, Marie, I thank God for you

We can't get back the time that has passed

But the Lord builds a bridge and He builds it to last

From the tears that we cried to the jokes that we share

I see His reflection in the love that is there

I'm holding you close and I'm lifting my hands

Praising the Father who drew up these plans

Oh, Marie, I thank the Lord for your life

A woman of faith who shines so bright

You're the big sister I waited to see

God wrote this story for you and for me

With a loving heart and a laugh so true

I love you, Marie, I thank God for you

Yes, I love you, Marie, I thank God for you
