Since the spring of nineteen ninety, you've been my guiding star

A storyteller with a heart of gold, I love you as you are

You'd give the shirt right off your back to anyone in need

For your grandkids and great-grandkids, you planted every seed

I still remember calling you while I was on the clock

I needed closed-toe shoes for work, and you were my solid rock

You drove right down to pick me up, we went and bought a pair

You took me out to lunch that day, and showed how much you care

You've always been a phone call away to chase away the blues

My hero coming to the rescue, buying me those shoes
