RICHARD

I was only fourteen when you caught my eye

My very first love under a teenage sky

We gave it some time, let the feelings grow

Till we were eighteen, ready for the world to know

We stood side by side and we said our vows

And I still feel the magic in the here and now

Richard, you gave your all, a hardworking man

Providing for the familia, doing all you can

Now your body needs rest, let me be your guide

You're my everyday blessing, my joy and my pride

Through the sickness and health, the highs and the lows

I wouldn't change a single thing about the life we chose

Look at the beautiful branches on our family tree

Five amazing children born to you and me

Twenty-nine grandbabies running through the door

And five great-grands to cherish even more

You built this foundation with your sweat and your hands

A legacy of love that forever stands

Richard, you gave your all, a hardworking man

Providing for the familia, doing all you can

Now your body needs rest, let me be your guide

You're my everyday blessing, my joy and my pride

Through the sickness and health, the highs and the lows

I wouldn't change a single thing about the life we chose

And when we bow our heads, we send a prayer above

For our baby boy Ruben Gutierrez, wrapped in all our love

Taken from our arms, but the bond is never gone

Always and forever twenty-seven, shining on

We carry his memory, we hold his spirit deep

A sacred piece of heaven that our heavy hearts will keep

Oh Richard, you gave your all, a hardworking man

Providing for the familia, doing all you can

Now let me support you, let me be your rest

God gave me you, and I am truly blessed

From fourteen to forever, through the joy and the tears

I will love you, my darling, for the rest of my years
