Emily

I knew your name before you even arrived

We’ve been building this bond for all of our lives

We met through the family, but you're the one I kept

I watched you as a newborn while the whole world slept

Now I look at the woman standing in front of me

And I can't believe you're already twenty-three

Oh, Emily, my free spirit, my friend

I'm standing beside you through thick and thin

You're the little sister I claim as my own

With the most loving heart that I've ever known

No matter the shadows you have to walk through

I'm always gonna be right here for you

Countless sleepovers talking late in the dark

Singing at concerts, letting out every spark

I know you've been through hell and made it back to the light

You're the strongest person, you've got so much fight

So funny and outgoing, so beautiful and brave

I'll always check in just to make sure you're safe

Oh, Emily, my free spirit, my friend

I'm standing beside you through thick and thin

You're the little sister I claim as my own

With the most loving heart that I've ever known

No matter the shadows you have to walk through

I'm always gonna be right here for you

It's crazy how fast the time just flies by

From the very first day to the tears that we cry

We've had the pleasure of sharing our whole lives

Through every single low and the beautiful highs

You're caring and bright, through the good and the bad

The best chosen family I could ever have

Oh, Emily, my free spirit, my friend

I'm standing beside you through thick and thin

You're the little sister I claim as my own

With the most loving heart that I've ever known

No matter what happens, I promise you, sis

I'll always be here for you, just like this
