Dena

The calendar turns and the seasons change

But the space between us never feels strange

We can be apart for so many days

Then pick right up in the same old ways

Dena, you listen with a patient grace

No matter how long I’ve been away from this place

We dive right back into the deep

With the kind of trust that a bestie keeps

We share the best laughs and the heartfelt cries

I see the honest empathy in your eyes

Through the heavy weather and the changing tides

A true friend loves and stands by your side

You’re there for the joy, you’re there for the grief

In a world of noise, you are my relief

They say perfume and incense bring joy to the heart

And that’s exactly what you do when the shadows start

Your heartfelt advice is a guiding light

Faithful and caring, you make it right

We can talk for hours till the sun goes down

The most meaningful words that I’ve ever found

You don't just hear me, you understand

Always reaching out a loving hand

We share the best laughs and the heartfelt cries

I see the honest empathy in your eyes

Through the heavy weather and the changing tides

A true friend loves and stands by your side

You’re there for the joy, you’re there for the grief

In a world of noise, you are my relief

Like iron sharpens iron, you sharpen my soul

You help me find focus and you make me whole

Born for adversity, standing so strong

Thank you for being where I belong

You carry my burdens without any pride

I'm so deeply grateful to walk by your side

We share the best laughs and the heartfelt cries

I see the honest empathy in your eyes

Through the heavy weather and the changing tides

A true friend loves and stands by your side

You’re there for the joy, you’re there for the grief

Dena, I love you, you are my relief
