Rachel

Fluorescent lights in a Kmart aisle

I was catching the grace of your quiet smile

Meeting for lunch at the Mug-n-Bun

Talking for hours in the midday sun

You cherish your family in every way

Chasing the shadows out of the gray

So Rachel, work with a joyful heart

You’ve been a beacon right from the start

Pour out your soul in the things you do

Knowing that Christ is shining through

Your ultimate reward isn't built by human hands

It’s the love you give and the rock where you stand

Looking out over the Navy Pier

The wind was biting but the picture was clear

I saw the kindness you hold inside

A caring spirit, a steady guide

You tend to the heavy, you nurture the weak

You live out the faith that you humbly speak

So Rachel, work with a joyful heart

You’ve been a beacon right from the start

Pour out your soul in the things you do

Knowing that Christ is shining through

Your ultimate reward isn't built by human hands

It’s the love you give and the rock where you stand

So I pray for your strength when the hours get long

I pray that your spirit remembers this song

Every quiet act of grace, every burden you lift

Is an offering to Him, it's a beautiful gift

So Rachel, work with a joyful heart

You’ve been a beacon right from the start

Pour out your soul in the things you do

Knowing that Christ is shining through

Your ultimate reward isn't built by human hands

It’s the love you give and the rock where you stand
