Kami Rae

I remember the rhythm, the way you would move

At every dance competition, you found your own groove

We packed up our lives, moving miles apart

From Houston to Charlotte, a brand new start

I watched from the crowd as you stepped in the light

My beautiful girl, always shining so bright

Kami Rae, I'm so proud of exactly who you are

So smart and intelligent, my shining star

I thank God every day He allowed me to be your mom

To stand by your side and see how far you've come

From a little girl dancing, putting on a show

Into a beautiful woman I've been blessed to watch grow

Life wasn't always just trophies and cheers

We had to face shadows, we had to face tears

When we lost your Nana, my world fell apart

But you were the anchor that steadied my heart

You were so strong for me when I couldn't stand

My sweet Kami Rae, reaching out for my hand

Kami Rae, I'm so proud of exactly who you are

So smart and intelligent, my shining star

I thank God every day He allowed me to be your mom

To stand by your side and see how far you've come

From a little girl dancing, putting on a show

Into a beautiful woman I've been blessed to watch grow

Every leap that you take, every stage that you claim

You bring so much light and you handle the rain

From the Texas heat to the Carolina sky

There is no limit to how high you can fly

I love you forever, in all that you do

My greatest blessing is simply just you

Oh, Kami Rae, I'm so proud of exactly who you are

So smart and intelligent, my shining star

I thank God every day He allowed me to be your mom

To stand by your side and see how far you've come

From a little girl dancing, putting on a show

Into a beautiful woman I've been blessed to watch grow

Yeah, the beautiful woman I've been blessed to watch grow
