Maddy

I still remember the day of your birth

The moment you brought a new heaven to earth

Holding you close as your story began

You gave me a reason to love once again

Your beautiful smile and the sound of your laugh

Are the lights that keep shining ahead on my path

Maddy, you're smart, you're loving and bright

With a beautiful style and a heart full of light

You're my someone to trust when it all is too much

I find my way home in the grace of your touch

I look at you shining, and I know it well

I see a better future for you than I ever dared to see for myself

It feels like just yesterday, dressed for the prom

I watched you walk out, feeling proud and so calm

Then came graduation, you took center stage

And boldly stepped into a beautiful page

At that college drop-off, I held back my tears

And knew you were ready to conquer the years

Maddy, you're smart, you're loving and bright

With a beautiful style and a heart full of light

You're my someone to trust when it all is too much

I find my way home in the grace of your touch

I look at you shining, and I know it well

I see a better future for you than I ever dared to see for myself

I didn't know how to dream very high

Until I saw the whole world in your eye

You gave me a purpose, you helped me to heal

You showed me a love that is steady and real

Maddy, you're smart, you're loving and bright

With a beautiful style and a heart full of light

You're my someone to trust when it all is too much

I find my way home in the grace of your touch

I look at you shining, and I know it well

I see a better future for you than I ever dared to see for myself
