Dad

You always had a patient way of listening

A loving kind of quiet in your eyes

Through all the joyful laughter we were sharing

And every single tear we had to cry

You carried me with tenderness and grace

And showed me how to seek the Father's face

Oh, Dad, the Lord is looking down in love

He sees the heavy burdens that you bear

He is right there on your side from up above

And He is listening to your every prayer

For all the endless caring that you do

Remember that the Savior stands with you

You serve the church without a need for glory

An Assistant Pastor walking in the light

Supporting your own Pastor in the story

Dedicated to the Lord with all your might

You hold the weary up when they are weak

And live the very gospel that you speak

Oh, Dad, the Lord is looking down in love

He sees the heavy burdens that you bear

He is right there on your side from up above

And He is listening to your every prayer

For all the endless caring that you do

Remember that the Savior stands with you

I think about the moments we have prayed

Kneeling down together, hand in hand

Through every quiet sacrifice you made

You built our family on the rock to stand

God sees your faithful heart, He knows your name

His holy love for you remains the same

Oh, Dad, the Lord is looking down in love

He sees the heavy burdens that you bear

He is right there on your side from up above

And He is listening to your every prayer

For all the endless caring that you do

Remember that the Savior stands with you

Yes, God is always right there next to you
