Jesse

Twenty-seven years ago, you couldn't wait to arrive

My Valentine baby, you made my whole world come alive

I called you my little angel, as cute as you could be

I blinked my eyes and suddenly, a grown man stands in front of me

Oh, Jesse, you're a hard-working man with a patient soul

Turning wrenches on those old cars, making 'em whole

Out hunting in the timber or casting a fishing line

Strumming that guitar, with a voice that sounds so fine

I'll always be your biggest fan, right from the start

I loved you first, but Summer gets eternity with your heart

You've got so much love for this family, it shows in all you do

A steady kind of sweetness, always seeing it through

I hear you singing a melody, clear and bright and strong

And I just sit and smile, getting lost inside your song

I wish I could turn back the clock, just for a little while

To watch you grow up all over again, and see that little boy smile

Oh, Jesse, you're a hard-working man with a patient soul

Turning wrenches on those old cars, making 'em whole

Out hunting in the timber or casting a fishing line

Strumming that guitar, with a voice that sounds so fine

I'll always be your biggest fan, right from the start

I loved you first, but Summer gets eternity with your heart

You finally found your perfect match when Summer came along

She's the beautiful harmony to your favorite song

I was the one who rocked you and held you in the dark

Now she's the one who gets to hold the future of your heart

Oh, Jesse, you're a hard-working man with a patient soul

Turning wrenches on those old cars, making 'em whole

Out hunting in the timber or casting a fishing line

Strumming that guitar, with a voice that sounds so fine

I'll always be your biggest fan, right from the start

I loved you first, but Summer gets eternity with your heart

Yeah, I loved you first, but Summer gets eternity with your heart
