Mitchell

It was the nineteenth of August, nineteen ninety-six

We sparked a connection that happened so quick

By the twenty-second, you walked through my door

You moved right in, and we knew there was more

All these years later, you're still my guide

Mitchell, you have never left my side

Thank You, God, for blessing me with a good, good man

Who builds this life with his own two hands

You support every choice that I make along the way

Standing right beside me every single day

May the Lord keep bringing you higher and higher

And bless you with everything your heart desires

You're a hardworking man in the summer heat

But you never let the long days bring defeat

Even when you're tired from the blazing sun

You don't sit down till the work is done

You step in the kitchen and you help me cook

Or fold up the laundry without a second look

You're my greatest partner, my steady rock

Working for this family around the clock

Thank You, God, for blessing me with a good, good man

Who builds this life with his own two hands

You support every choice that I make along the way

Standing right beside me every single day

May the Lord keep bringing you higher and higher

And bless you with everything your heart desires

Four children you stepped up and helped me raise

Now seventeen grandkids are filling our days

And one little great-granddaughter to hold

You love them uniquely, a heart made of gold

You always say yes when they call out your name

Since nineteen ninety-six, you have been the same

So thank You, God, for blessing me with a good, good man

Who builds this life with his own two hands

You support every choice that I make along the way

Standing right beside me every single day

May the Lord keep bringing you higher and higher

And bless you with everything your heart desires

Mitchell, you are everything my heart desires
