Michael

I remember counting down the hours on the clock

Waiting for the weekend just to hear your knock

All those long miles traveling down the line

Just to get a moment with your hand in mine

We built this love on bags packed by the door

And every time I saw you, I just loved you more

Oh, Michael, look how far you've come

Standing in the light of a brand new sun

I love the quiet wisdom in the things you do

My brilliant, steady man, I'm so proud of you

Yeah, I'm so proud of you

You've got a mind that sees right through the dark

A gentle kind of genius with a tender heart

When the world gets heavy and the roads get rough

Your deep, calm knowing is always enough

I watch you navigate the struggles you've been through

And my soul just overflows with love for you

Oh, Michael, look how far you've come

Standing in the light of a brand new sun

I love the quiet wisdom in the things you do

My brilliant, steady man, I'm so proud of you

Yeah, I'm so proud of you

We used to cross the map just to share a space

Now I get to wake up and trace your face

You fought the hard battles, you stayed so true

Look at all the mountains that you made it through

Oh, Michael, look how far you've come

Standing in the light of a brand new sun

I love the quiet wisdom in the things you do

My brilliant, steady man, I'm so proud of you

The distance is behind us, and the skies are blue

Oh, Michael, I am so, so proud of you
