Joanne

Back in nineteen eighty-one, underneath the summer sky

Our first date at the Ekka, I caught your caring eye

We headed to the rodeo, I was young and full of pride

I handed you my wallet for a dusty bronc ride

You held it in your hands and you never let it go

Just like you've held my heart through every high and low

Happy birthday, Annie, my sweet and caring wife

You're the most beautiful soul I've known in this life

Forever and always, together we'll stay strong

Right here in my arms is where you belong

We raised three wild daughters, Katie, Dannielle, and Chloe

You gave them all your love and watched the family grow

Now Bam and Pypa are the brightest lights you see

You’re the center of this family, and everything to me

Happy birthday, Annie, my sweet and caring wife

You're the most beautiful soul I've known in this life

Forever and always, together we'll stay strong

Right here in my arms is where you belong

From Canada to Europe, Hong Kong to Hawaii's sand

Thailand and the USA, we traveled hand in hand

At twenty years in Vegas, we swore our vows again

Weekends out with Neil and Jo, my lover and my friend

Now I watch you in the backyard, checking on your chickens

Hands deep in the dirt where the garden vines are thickenin'

Always trying to out-grow your brother Neil

But the life that we’ve grown is the greatest thing I feel

Happy birthday, Annie, my sweet and caring wife

You're the most beautiful soul I've known in this life

Forever and always, together we'll stay strong

Right here in my arms is where you belong
