Clarissa

In a little city out in California

The air was warm, the world felt brand new

September fifth, the year two thousand

The day my life began again with you

I held you close and made a silent promise

To guide you through the shadows and the light

Clarissa, when the seasons turn cold

And the people around you start to change

When the heavy days are hard to hold

And the path ahead feels out of range

Remember God is there, He will never leave you

And I am right here, your dad will always love you

I watch you walk through this complicated world

With a heart so big it takes my breath away

You care so deep for everybody else

And find the strength to face another day

I see that sweet determination in your eyes

A beautiful fire that never dies

Clarissa, when the seasons turn cold

And the people around you start to change

When the heavy days are hard to hold

And the path ahead feels out of range

Remember God is there, He will never leave you

And I am right here, your dad will always love you

The years will fly, the tides will shift and fall

But you have an anchor through it all

A father’s prayer softly whispering your name

And a faithful God who always stays the same

So let the rain come down, let the wind blow

You are never walking on your own

Clarissa, when the seasons turn cold

And the people around you start to change

When the heavy days are hard to hold

And the path ahead feels out of range

Remember God is there, He will never leave you

And I am right here, your dad will always love you

Forever and always, your dad will always love you
