Sahara

Sahara, you step out and the whole town knows

A familiar light follows everywhere you go

Top makeup artist in Mississippi, setting the bar

So beautiful and smart, a visionary star

You’ve got that motivation, a fire deep inside

Watching you grow up has been my greatest pride

You carry the weight, but you do it with grace

A wonderful mother, holding your space

From the power you show to the love that you send

To my grandbaby Legend, my heart till the end

Sahara, I love you, more than words can say

I’m so proud of the woman you are today

I think about the chalk dusting up your hands

Those long, long hours waiting up in the stands

Waiting for your turn to step up to the bar

Showing everybody exactly who you are

You pulled the heavy iron, placing number one

Refusing to quit until the lifting was done

You showed me right then what it means to be strong

Proving every single obstacle wrong

But the deepest strength I ever saw you display

Was the moment little Legend finally came our way

Watching you give birth, watching you transform

Becoming a mother, a shelter from the storm

Tender and fierce, protecting your own

The most beautiful love that I’ve ever known

You carry the weight, but you do it with grace

A wonderful mother, holding your space

From the power you show to the love that you send

To my grandbaby Legend, my heart till the end

Sahara, I love you, more than words can say

I’m so proud of the woman you are today
