King

You're stepping up, getting taller every day

Fifth grade is calling, you're paving your own way

You got a heart of gold, always making me smile

With your funny jokes, yeah, you got your own style

You look out for your brothers, your sister, and me

The most caring young man that I ever could see

Oh King, you don't gotta work so hard to fit in

You're already cool all by yourself, from within

You and Malaysha are the sunshine in my sky

I love y'all to the moon and back, as the years go by

Yeah, you're perfect just the way you are, my son

My shining star, my number one

I think about the days when the water is slow

Floating down the river in Helen, watching you grow

The breeze on our faces, the peace in the air

Nothing in this world could ever compare

And every time you wrap your arms around me tight

All the heavy things in life just feel so light

Oh King, you don't gotta work so hard to fit in

You're already cool all by yourself, from within

You and Malaysha are the sunshine in my sky

I love y'all to the moon and back, as the years go by

Yeah, you're perfect just the way you are, my son

My shining star, my number one

I saw the gentle man you're growing up to be

When you held little Alanni so carefully

Your niece in your arms for the very first time

That beautiful moment is forever in my mind

You got so much love to give, it's plain to see

So King, you don't gotta work so hard to fit in

You're already cool all by yourself, from within

You and Malaysha are the sunshine in my sky

I love y'all to the moon and back, as the years go by

Yeah, you're perfect just the way you are, my son

My shining star, my number one
