Pierce

I folded my hands and I sent up a prayer

Looking for a little more joy in the air

Then heaven opened up and it gave me you

With a funny little smile and a heart so true

Pierce, you're the light that I was waiting for

I couldn't ever ask the good Lord for more

You're my ray of sunshine, clearing the gray

Chasing the shadows and the clouds away

From hiking up a trail to exploring somewhere new

Every step is better when I'm taking it with you

You've got a caring heart that is rare to find

Pierce, you're the answer that was on my mind

We lace up our boots and we head for the trees

Finding new places in the whispering breeze

You never rush ahead, you stay right by my side

With a joke and a laugh and your arms open wide

You always want to help, it's just the way you're made

Walking together in the sun and the shade

You're my ray of sunshine, clearing the gray

Chasing the shadows and the clouds away

From hiking up a trail to exploring somewhere new

Every step is better when I'm taking it with you

You've got a caring heart that is rare to find

Pierce, you're the answer that was on my mind

It means the whole world that you want me around

To share every view and the treasures we've found

I watch how you love and the kindness you show

I am so proud of the boy that I know

'Cause you're my ray of sunshine, clearing the gray

Chasing the shadows and the clouds away

From hiking up a trail to exploring somewhere new

Every step is better when I'm taking it with you

You've got a caring heart that is rare to find

Pierce, you're the answer that was on my mind

You're my ray of sunshine, honest and true

And I thank God for every minute with you
