Ezra

It started with a voice across the wire

A steady sound that filled my soul with fire

I didn't need to look into your face

To know the Lord had brought me to this grace

We met upon the phone, a distant call

But in my spirit, I could feel it all

I heard your heart before I saw your smile

And knew that we would walk a faithful mile

Oh Ezra, you’re the substance of my hope

The evidence of things I could not see

A loving husband walking in the light

A father who is everything to me

Hebrews eleven, verse number one

Look at the beautiful work God has done

You guide this family with a gentle hand

A righteous man who helps us firmly stand

The way you father with such patient care

Is proof that heaven listens to my prayer

You pour your spirit in the life we share

And show the love of Jesus everywhere

Through every single trial, every test

With you beside me, I am truly blessed

Oh Ezra, you’re the substance of my hope

The evidence of things I could not see

A loving husband walking in the light

A father who is everything to me

Hebrews eleven, verse number one

Look at the beautiful work God has done

From a simple hello on a telephone line

To a covenant bond that is purely divine

Lord, I testify of the man that he is

A heart for his home, and completely His

We walk by the Spirit, we walk by the Word

The sweetest connection that I ever heard

Oh Ezra, you’re the substance of my hope!

The evidence of things I could not see!

A loving husband walking in the light

A father who is everything to me!

Hebrews eleven, verse number one

I praise the Lord for the man you’ve become!

Yes Ezra, you're the substance of my hope!
