Alison

Back in twenty-twelve at the RPlace Diner in Morris, Illinois

I walked in and saw your smile, and it took away my voice

It took my breath away, we started talking and we couldn't stop

Next thing I knew, we were down in Myrtle, letting the whole world drop

Dancing at a wedding, walking under the stars at night

Talking 'bout everything and nothing till the morning light

Alison, you made me fall so hard before we even left that shore

And every single day since then, I only love you more

You are patient and protective, beautiful and strong

My lover and my best friend, it's right where you belong

The best mother to our children, my sexy, guiding light

When I see a world of danger, you make it all alright

If one door closes, I'll open the next without a single fear

Always and forever, as long as you're right next to me here

Came home in twenty-fifteen, moved to Illinois to start our life

Through the good times and the bad, I'm so proud you're my wife

When the storms came rolling in, you never turned and ran away

You held my hand through the ups and downs, steady every day

You even drove five hundred miles to Ohio to bail me out

That's the kind of fierce, amazing love I never have to doubt

'Cause you are patient and protective, beautiful and strong

My lover and my best friend, it's right where you belong

The best mother to our children, my sexy, guiding light

When I see a world of danger, you make it all alright

If one door closes, I'll open the next without a single fear

Always and forever, as long as you're right next to me here

Then came twenty-eighteen, and our amazing Chloe Grace

Thirty-six days in the hospital, tears falling down my face

A bad blood infection, we almost lost her to the dark

But when the smoke finally cleared, you were holding my heart

You looked right at me, keeping us safe and warm

Said, "Our love is meant to be, we can weather any storm"

You are patient and protective, beautiful and strong

My lover and my best friend, it's right where you belong

The best mother to our children, my sexy, guiding light

When I see a world of danger, you make it all alright

If one door closes, I'll open the next without a single fear

Always and forever, as long as you're right next to me here

Yeah, always and forever, as long as you're right next to me here
